The Hyundai Creta based Kia Trazor SUV will be the first launch in India!
Kia is focussing hard on its India strategy and its first product would be expected to provide class-leading features but also great value with a pricing that is clearly targetting its arch-rival the Hyundai Creta. The name has been finalized in a poll conducted by the carmaker, the majority of Indians voted for the name Trazor.
The Kia Trazor will be assembled at Kia’s plant in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh. The plant’s construction is in full swing right now and is expected to be completed by the second quarter of 2019, just before the SUV rolls down the assembly line.
Since it is built on the same platform as Creta, it will also get the same engines. The Kia Trazor will get the same 1.4 Litre diesel, 1.6 Liter diesel and 1.6 Liter petrol engines. The diesel engines will be used in lower variants, which will only come with a manual transmission. Both of the other petrol and diesel engines will come with manual and automatic options. The production model will get maybe 16-inch or 17-inch wheels as opposed to the really large wheels on the concept model. There will be subtle changes in the grille however it will retain the Tiger Nose signature grille. The bumpers may get little bit change.
